Gamescom 2024

PlayInsight Studios at Gamescom 2024: an important milestone for Scrappy and our studio

Gamescom, the world’s largest games fair, was an incredible experience for us at PlayInsight Studios this year! Thanks to the support of Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), we had the wonderful opportunity to exhibit our game in development, Scrappy, in the fair’s business area. A huge thank you to MDM for making this possible!
The excitement began on 20 August, when we attended the eagerly anticipated Opening Night Live. The atmosphere was electric as new and upcoming games set the tone for an unforgettable week. We could hardly wait for our own exhibition, scheduled for the first official day of Gamescom on Wednesday, 21 August.

Exhibiting Scrappy: a day to remember

On Wednesday, we took our place in the business area at the Free State of Saxony stand, where we presented Scrappy to developers, players, potential partners and politicians. It was an invaluable opportunity to meet like-minded people and explore future collaborations.
We made excellent use of our time, connecting with publishers and service providers who could support our studio’s continued growth. The conversations were inspiring, and we are excited about the opportunities that may lie ahead for Scrappy and PlayInsight Studios.
The Saxony stand was not only the perfect place for networking, but also a great place to recharge. The delicious lunch provided by the friendly catering team was a treat, as was the opportunity to try innovative games by other developers at the stand.

Highlights and connections

One highlight of our trip was meeting politicians from central Germany and Thuringia, including state secretaries from Saxony and Thuringia. We had the privilege of presenting our work on Scrappy and discussing the growing opportunities for game development in our region. Their support and interest in our project motivated us and reinforced our excitement about the studio’s future.
After spending time in the indie area, filled with an impressive range of independent games, we returned home on Friday, 23 August, proud of what we had achieved at Gamescom. The connections we made, the feedback we received and the inspiration we brought home will undoubtedly help us on our journey.
Overall, Gamescom 2024 was a fantastic experience. We look forward to continuing our work on Scrappy and growing our studio with the insights and partnerships gained at this event.
