PlayInsight Studios was nominated for an award!
While applying for the start-up grant, we learned about an award for people who had founded, or planned to found, a business with support from ThEx. We decided to apply for it alongside the grant.
On 29 September 2024, we received the news that our application had succeeded and that we had been selected among the top ten in the GRÜNDEN category. This category recognises recent founders setting out with a distinctive idea and vision. Our next step was a three-minute pitch to a jury, which would decide whether we might win a prize. We presented PlayInsight Studios and our idea once more. Then came the wait.
The ceremony: anticipation builds
The day arrived on 19 November 2024. Dressed up and a little nervous, we met at around 4 pm before heading to the ceremony at IHK Erfurt. A welcome reception awaited us, and we met our colleagues from Stepheight, who also work in games. Soon everyone gathered in the hall for the awards.
There were three main categories: GRÜNDEN, NACHFOLGEN and DURCHSTARTEN. There was also the IMPULSGEBERIN category and, for the first time, a special YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS award. Every category featured interesting people with excellent ideas. We had to wait a while because our category came last. Our hopes were high and our pulse quickened as the top three were announced one by one.
In the end, we did not make the top three. But the evening held another surprise: all top-ten nominees received a motivational grant of €1,000!
The aftershow get-together
The evening continued after the ceremony. At the get-together, we enjoyed good music and a creative, delicious buffet, and exchanged ideas and contacts with entrepreneurs and aspiring founders. A recap of the evening is available on the ThEx AWARD website.
